The human body itself is a powerful energy field, absorbing and radiating energy continually throughout its lifespan. However, energy can become blocked or misaligned through a psychic disturbance, emotional trauma or health crisis. When energy doesn’t flow freely, or is imbalanced, it can disrupt physical, mental and emotional health.

THE POWER OF ENERGY HEALING
As Usui Reiki Master, I engage in a subtle and effective form of energy work using spiritually guided life force energy. Reiki is energy healing which is designed to facilitate the transfer of universal life energy through me to you, the client, thus replenishing your energy stores and encouraging your own energy currents to restore balance and promotes healing on all levels.
Reiki is a spiritual healing art. It is not a massage nor is it based on a particular belief or religion. The word Reiki is actually a combination of two Japanese words: “rei,” translated as ‘universal life,’ and “ki,” meaning energy. Reiki energy has been, and always will be, in, around, and permeating our universe. Reiki is the life energy that flows through all living things.
A recipient of Reiki might feel a warming sensation or a tingling during the session or nothing at all but sheer relaxation. The session should be very pleasant, relaxing and invigorating as It is often utilized for one’s personal wellness. A session can either be hands-on, where a light touch is applied during the session, or hands-off where their hands are slightly above your body. If a client prefers not to be touched, they can indicate this before the session begins. The session will then proceed moving through specific standard Reiki hand positions.
A session is usually 45 to 60 minutes long. The client will rest comfortably on a massage table on their back, or in a chair with their shoes removed. A client is always fully clothed; loose, comfortable clothing is suggested.
Reiki is a great tool to use as a complement to traditional medicine and is practiced in many hospitals and medical care settings. A Reiki session may help ease tension and stress and may help support the body to facilitate an environment for healing on all levels – physical, emotional and spiritual. Practices such as Reiki are used to aid in sleep disorders, anxiety and depression, ease muscle tension, manage pain from cancer and other diseases, and to speed healing times from surgery or other debilitating occurrences. This energy healing can be used in conjunction with many therapies, as well as psychological counseling, to bring about healing. However, it is not a substitute for medical care.
